Ive seen a few posts lately that people are deleting their friends that they dont see often or communicate with often, feeling that because of that they do not deserve the title of friend on their FB page. Ive probably been deleted by a few people, but I honestly dont look. What I know is I have well over 2000 friends on this page and I consider all of them people that I value and care about, even if I havent seen them for a very long time. They might have touched or inspired me, or I did the same for them somehow. Even though I dont chat to you daily or go out for beers on the weekend, I still value every single one of you. (Its hard to go out for beers with someone who lives on the other side of the world). This forum, as maligned as it is by some, gives me the chance to actually see way more of you and what youre doing with yourself than I could ever keep up with if I had to divide up chunks of real time by traveling to a pub and talking to you about it, looking at your printed photos of your cool new kids or swanky new theatre project. I think this thing right here is cool! Sure it cant replace a real hug and the sound of your real voice just feet away from me, but its a good alternative that never existed before this Zuckerberg dude had a wildly good (arguably plagerised) idea. So even though we dont chat daily, or even if you scroll through who has liked your post and Im not on it, you can be pretty sure Ive seen it and if I havent its just because Ive been up to my tits. And by the way, I know FB is not the place people tell the truth about how shit their lives are. Yes we usually post the good stuff, or if not that then the angry stuff about how much of a total tyrant Enda is, but most people with half a brain know that no matter how much happy or angry stuff you put up here, we are all in the gutter and we are all afraid. I know that sounds like a major down, but its not at all. I think its quite the opposite. It makes us brothers and sisters. Peace out. D.
