Ive seen so much hate on both sides of the spectrum especially - TopicsExpress

Ive seen so much hate on both sides of the spectrum especially those making this a left right wing issue and it doesnt help the city, this country move ahead. It just causes a divide. As a citizen, I believe people have a right to protest. That is our God-given right as citizens, but do so peacefully. At this time, have respect for the families that are grieving. Have respect for the Police officers as well. The violent and distasteful protesting has no place in this. Disrespecting the police only fires up the stereotypes people have. They are there to do their job. Growing up in the inner city, Ive seen inequality. Some very close to me have experienced it. Coming from different walks of life and those experiences are what makes are views different. Respect and be open-minded of those differences maybe even be open to learning about those differences. Put yourself in someones shoes and try to maybe understand where they are coming from. Every situation or incident should be looked at as such. Not all cops are bad, not all minorities are thugs. Do I believe what happened to Eric Gardner was injustice? I do. Am I a supporter of law enforcement? Absolutely! Am I grateful for what they do for us and what they risk? Yes!!! Because I feel some way about 1 thing doesnt mean I cant feel a certain way about something else. My heart and prayers go out to the families of Police Officer Ramos and Police Officer Liu, who lost their lives so violently by obviously someone not of sane mind. My prayers go out to the Police officers who leave their families every day and risk their lives to protect ours, many of who Im friends with. My prayers also go out to the Garner family. My hope is that we can have a difference of opinion without being disrespectful. My hope is that people can have more empathy and be understanding of these differences. We are not all the same, we all come from different walks of life and most importantly all our lives matter! I will do my part as a mother of 2 Hispanic boys. I will teach them about love, I will teach them about empathy and respect for all. If we all took responsibility and opened up dialog and just listen, just listen to 1 another without bias, then maybe just maybe our childrens future has a chance.
