Ive served honorably for over 26 years, Ive reached the pinnacle of my profession. That basically means that Im no longer getting promoted...no place else to go. Ive also served in many places all over this world. I think Im allowed to comment on the current situation with the Army Sargent. I see several of you calling him a traitor...hmm...traitors usually have something to trade the enemy. Not sure this guy is a traitor...deserter? Maybe? By all accounts he left his post under some very shady circumstances. Im quite sure that the Army will investigate. Take the time to dig past the news stories. This guy was starved...missing at least 8 teeth...suffered from malnutrition and has some parasite issues. Those that know me well know Im a stickler for doing the right thing. If he walked away from his post and he is found guilty by the Army then Im good with that. But I refused to get wrapped around the judgement of an American who was held under extreme conditions. Hes not well, hes suffered and he has been through an ordeal. Ive watched Fox News parade several E4 and E5s in front of the monitor to tell us all what a miserable Solider he was. Please...I could do the same with most of my Sailors depending on the day. They may not walk away from assigned posts but I could find FTN carved into any post that a watch has stood in the history of posts. My point is we all need to stand back...take a collective deep breath and figure out just what happened. The truth will come out...it always does..until then lets put down the rocks!
