Ive talked up Mayor Menino a lot over the years and with the sad news yesterday I wanted to do it one last time. He took endless flak for mispronouncing the names of our beloved sports heroes. And couldnt say Around the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran if you paid him. But no Mayor, scrap that, no ONE has ever loved the city of Boston more. Ever. During his reign, if you turned on a cable access program or read an article about a local event, no doubt he was there. Kiwanis club meeting in Somerville. There. Featured little league game in Chelsea. There. At times I was convinced he had a twin. But he didnt, it was all him. And there was, and never will be, anyone like him. Rest in peace Mayor. Youve earned it.
