Ive tried to keep political post on the down low, but the recent actions and self centered patting himself on the back Justin Burr has really boiled a lot of water in the county in the last few weeks. How does anyone his age with no political experience except getting a seat in Raleigh by sheer name and luck know whats best for the people of Stanly County? He doesnt represent the citizens, he has a Burr Agenda. Education and public safety should be top priority in the county and state. Without a proper education, without funds to provide those educations this state will not have the workforce a lot of companies look for when looking to build new manufacturing locations. High crime rates deter expansion and growth, on all levels. Numerous educational jobs have been lost, hours have been cut and schools have been shuttered statewide. Classroom sizes have increased, more responsibility and an increased work load have been placed on all educators. And all with out an increase in pay. I used to buy my share of lottery tickets, thinking it was going to educational purposes. Ive stopped buying them, as I cant see any improvements where those funds were designated for. The flat tax rate doesnt help the lower class, but yet it greatly improves the living conditions for those who were already living very comfortably. From my point of view, all this budget has done is increase the burden on the lower working class citizens and made life easier for those who have no worries to begin with. Our children deserve better from local and state leaders. Our tax dollars are not being represented or spent well in Raleigh. I hope our county commissioners can see the need to find the 600,000 dollars our school system desperately needs. They found the money to fight ALCOA, they can find the funds to provide the school system with what it needs. 600,000 dollars sounds like a lot of money, and it is. But I would think it would be 600,000 well spent dollars when it comes to the future of the generation being educated today. After all, they are as much our future as we are.
