Ive tried to talk to Cal about the Ray Rice situation several times this week. And each time, Ive walked away bc I want to be sure I can stay calm and refrain from excess hand gestures and expletives during the conversation. As a person who is familiar with both child and partner abuse, I know my views lack compassion, but Im extremely comfortable with that. Actually, having compassion is what landed me in the same situation over and over again. I wanted to believe the best in people and I hoped for change. Some people are broken beyond repair. Its okay to walk away. And its not your responsibility to make sure they get help. Abusers often see compassion and forgiveness as weakness because they arent built to comprehend goodness. I think its super cute that some people are advocating patience and forgiveness and rehabilitation for women hitters. Nah man thats the stupidest shit Ive ever heard. Aint nobody got time for that.
