Ive written a lot about how I truly believe history repeats itself. The Bible says that there is nothing new under the sun, everything that has been shall be, and everything that shall be has been. While I was pastoring I had the opportunity to share something the lord had taught me with my peers and others around me, but I dont believe Ive ever shared it on here. So here it goes. When Christ came of age, He directly addressed the problems and hypocrisy He saw taking place within the temple and within the priests of His day. He spoke of it a lot, and addressed it straight on with no room for misinterpretation. He was disgusted with what He saw taking place, and turned from dealing with the priests of the temple, and started dealing directly with fisherman and common people. During that time it was common knowledge that the priesthood had been polluted with politics and deception. Josephus, the Jewish historian wrote about the practices of the priests and how the high priest position became one that was sold to the highest bidder. Much like politics of today, those with the most money to spend, and the highest ranking supporters, became the priests and high priest of the temple of God and corruption had become commonplace within the temple. The rules given by God to Moses about who would be priests had all but been ignored and Caiaphas was not of the blood line of Aron, or of the tribe of Benjamin. But there was one who was, and he leapt in his mothers womb at the announcement of Marys pregnancy. The true High Priest of Christs time according to Gods Word, was John the Baptist. Look into it, its true. So in Christs day here was the temple. Within that temple were the Pharisees and the Sadducees. The Sadducees were very old fashioned and they believed strictly in Mosaic law and did not accept the resurrection of the dead, or the existence of angels. They basically denied the supernatural works of God and focused strictly on temple worship. The Pharisees on the other hand were a little more liberal. They believed in angels and the resurrection of the dead. They believed in the power of God working in mens lives and didnt keep God closed within the four walls of the temple. They believed He worked within men by His power and Spirit. Now, outside the temple, a revolution was taking place. John the Baptist was right in the midst of his ministry and had been filled with the Holy Ghost before he was even born. He had been proclaiming the Gospel of the Messiah, the Lamb of God, and had been baptizing those who would believe in water which represented what the Spirit had revealed to him about what would take place when the true Messiah came and completed His work. I know this is a lot of stuff to soak up, but stay with please stay with me. So in Christs day we had the temple. It was divided by those who believed in the works of the Spirit, and those who did not, and they tried very hard to keep God contained within the four walls of the building. But outside the building, out in the wilderness, was the true High Priest of God, yelling at the top of his lungs, Behold The Lamb of God..... Make straight the way of the Lord! John the Baptist was out in the world in ragged clothes, messed up hair, and eating locusts proclaiming the Gospel of the King to everyone he met, and people were coming to him to hear his message by the droves. People were sick of the temple and its hypocrisy, and were being drawn by the Spirit of God to the Truth of Word of God. Well, here we are today. We have the Church, the temple of God. It is divided in two by those who believe in the works of the Spirit, and those who dont. It has become filled with hypocrisy and false truths, and many of the priests of today are in their positions for political or religious gain. You dont have to like it, but you cannot deny it. But here is what I believe. I believe that God is calling for John the Baptists. Men and women who arent afraid to get out of the church building and go out into the wilderness to meet people where they are. Endued with the power of the Holy Spirit, and strengthened with the power of the Word of God. It is my belief that what this country, and the world needs is people who will trade there church cloths, make up, and perfect hair, for humbleness, work, and dirty finger nails tilling the soil looking for good soil to plant a seed. When the Son of God went looking for His High Priest, He didnt find him in the temple, He found him in the wilderness proclaiming the Word of God. I believe He is looking for some John the Baptists, because Hes tired of listening to the false priests.
