I’ll Build A Prosperous Rivers State- Amaechi At Inauguration Published on May 29, 2011 by pmnews The Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has restated the commitment of his administration to build a prosperous Rivers State that will offer unparalleled opportunities to citizens and all Nigerians who live and transact business in the state. Governor Amaechi stated this today while presenting his inaugural address, shortly after being sworn-in for a second term, by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Iche Ndu at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt. He reaffirmed the willingness and readiness of his administration to improve the quality of life of the present and future generations, and empower them in a peaceful, just and harmonious society. According to him, “I see a state that will be a beacon of development and progress in the federation. I see a state in which the citizens are enlightened skilled and healthy, adding. I see a state at peace with itself and with its neighbors.” To this end, Governor Amaechi asserted that his leadership would not relent in providing qualitative education in the state, pointing out that government will in no distant time equip and complete ongoing school projects, while the new campus of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, will be completed in the next four years. He disclosed that the state government is currently negotiating what he called significant concessions from the Federal Government which, according to him, will allow for the distribution of electricity from the State Independent Power Project, adding that already a technical committee has since been inaugurated with the view to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted power supply in the state before the end of 2012. Governor Amaechi said in order to transform the public service in the state, government would encourage the service through capacity enhancement and improve working condition, while social and economic empowerment initiative as well as the micro-credit agency would be reinvigorated to perform even better. He thanked the voters, who participated in the just concluded general elections, pointing out that victory belongs to the people, describing the mandate as humbling and challenging and called for support and understanding. -Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in his inaugural address as Governor of Rivers state.
