I’m a young African American male, born in the south!!! With that statement alone many will agree that the world has its own perception and stereotypes as to what I should be; what I should be doing, how I should be speaking, how I should be dressing, so on and so on. One thing I know about stereotypes is that they are nothing more than assumptions derived from a vast, variety of collected opinions. Sure I listen to rap music, but I also love country music. I like going out to clubs occasionally, but I would choose to hunting & fishing over being in a club any day. I like imported wines, I write poetry, I have a mild infatuation for stocks and bonds, NASCAR is one of my favorite sports, I like wearing handmade cowboy boots. I can go on and on describing to you things about me that may cause some to raise an eyebrow, but the point of me sharing this with all of you is to just remind you that, you have the freedom to do and be whoever you want to be in this world. Don’t let society ever determine your fate as to how u live your life and never let any man or woman besides God place a value upon who you really are. Many of us live our lives based off habitual habits of our ancestors and traditions of the places that we were born and raised in. There is so much more to in the world than where you spent the majority of your life.
