I’m not sure where the recent movement to discourage the use of the word “bossy” for girls and women started and I can’t see many situations wherein it would help or edify anyone. Calling a woman “bossy” is NOT something I am prone to do. Who am I to judge that? I am, however, apt to compliment and commend any woman who tries to apply the apostle Peter’s encouragement for Christian women to pursue “chaste and respectful behavior.” (1 Peter 3:2). Peter went on to commend a woman’s inner adornment of that “imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.” (1 Peter 3:4). I respect a woman’s right to define this quality as God leads her heart to understand and apply it. She may get called cruel names by some for following Peter’s inspired advice but she will get only appreciation and respect from me. And she and her spirit will be precious in the sight of God.
