I’m proud to say that the Hire More Heroes Act is the first piece of legislation passed by the House in the 114th Congress. This bill alleviates one of the burdens of Obamacare and incentives small businesses to hire veterans. Obamacare’s employer mandate requires all businesses with more than 50 full-time workers to provide employer-sponsored insurance. Under current law, veterans who already receive health insurance through the VA or TRICARE would still be counted towards the employer mandate. This bill would exempt veterans from being included in this count. By doing this, we can lighten a burden on small business and help veterans get hired. I look forward to supporting more bills like this in the coming weeks. With the Republican-led Senate, we have an excellent opportunity to begin repealing portions of Obamacare.
