I’ve been involved over the past few weeks with problems with the Bus Park and Turning Point at Incline Road Abersychan where the children attending Abersychan High School are dropped off and collected. I’ve been horrified at parents parking in front of buses and navigating the circle to drop and collect children for school causing major concerns for the safety of our children. Some of the concerns I have witnessed are parents and carers parking on the crossing, parking tight to buses causing children to risk crush injuries as they navigate through the gaps. I’ve seen cars parking in bus bays, preventing buses parking and cars cutting up buses whilst children are trying to get to and from school. This has to stop as our children’s safety is paramount. I have called a site meeting with officers to try and resolve this, but in the meantime appeal to parents and carers to steer clear of this area whilst buses are present, before a child is injured or worse.
