I’ve been kind of bizzy with my DAY JOB (no wise cracks plz) - TopicsExpress

I’ve been kind of bizzy with my DAY JOB (no wise cracks plz) but had the urge to express some feelings about my experience Of Sunday night at the “Wilson House Express Yourself Night” Event at the Beal Street Club…, To begin with, I was surprised when the Hostess shot my lady friend a dirty look and requested $20 cover for us…, The hostess knew me well – and never mentioned any cover charge in the invitation she sent me on Facebook…? But everyone needs to pay their bills so I smiled and put a crisp twenty on the counter. I never did understand the dirty look she shot my lady friend…, After all…, a gentleman never tells! So why would a lady tell on herself? I was disappointed when 10PM rolled around, and there were less than a dozen people in attendance – and half of them were ‘staff’. Everyone in the place was drag-assing around, or doing the ‘thorazine shuffle’ -- as if they were waiting for the Morgue Attendant to wheel in the Body, to be identified by the others…, Having intended on doing 5 to 10 minutes of ‘stand up’ – and being pre-approved by the hostess to plan a 7.5 minute routine; it occurred to me, that this would be quite a challenge…., To deliver humor in a morgue! So I told my Lady Friend early on: “The only way I will be able to wake these people up – will to be in my “over the top character”. While I admit that the “over the top” character is no big stretch for me – it is the type of thing that takes a few minutes to get psyched up into character…., So I started working myself up…, Even put on my make-shift straight-jacket! And something strange happened – the gathering woke up and started laughing…., The Video my lady friend tried to shoot (When the Hostess didn’t block her view) revealed that every line except one (but plus two un-planned) audience responses… were vocalized with laughter. Until the routine was interrupted by the Hostess at the 4min 30 sec Mark…, Depriving me of the opportunity to smooth-out and present the best of the planned material. We always save the best for last!
