I’ve been reviewing and reading on economics lately in an attempt to come up with a concrete understanding of poverty in the Philippines and somehow find ways to alleviate it at least hypothetically and theoretically for now. Economics has always been so abstract that even economists concede that quantitative indicators such as GDP and GNP does not necessarily mean real and felt development and that the real measure is still qualitative - the quality of life. All the classical, neoclassical, and modern economic theories are so detached and somehow unreal to the point that one questions: With all the so-called economists and experts in the Philippines why can’t we come up with real economic development?
