I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now, and it should come as no surprise that it’s been on my mind around this time of year. I’m very thankful for the comfortable life that I have. I look around my existence, and I see so many beautiful and wonderful things. From my wonderful partner, Andrew and my two wonderful fur kids, Babette and Paolo, to my amazingly supportive and loving family, to the many, many awesome friends and acquaintances that I have, to all the small, yet wonderful, personal objects that I have collected and that surround me and enhance my life: beautiful music from my favorite radio and records; my desk set with bottled inks, fountain pens, my opal paperweight, and beautifully designed tech; gifts I’ve been given; artwork on our walls from artists near and far that we’ve helped to support…the list would be nearly endless if I kept looking around. The thing with being thankful is that voicing it can sound like bragging, and I hope this doesn’t, but as I look out of my window with the snow falling over the trees and mountains, I’m overcome with a sense of contentment. I’ve worked hard for things in life, there is no doubt, but I’ve also been very fortunate to have such support and love around me. That has enabled me to have the life that I do. I know that others are not always so lucky, and my thoughts go out to them. I’m very thankful for my life right now, and I do hope that all of you can say the same.
