I’ve had a number of friends ask about Jocelyn, out of love and concern for our family. I sincerely appreciate that, so I put together this brief response. I haven’t said much up until now in order to protect Jocelyn’s (and my kids’) privacy. Also, I always like to let Jocelyn speak for herself, when and if she desires to. She hasn’t said much (if anything) publicly since she released her book last year. I do want to say that we are friends and I wish nothing but the best for her! Also, I believe that Jocelyn has endured more suffering and difficulties than just about anyone I know and I would do everything within my power to protect her from anyone who tried to cause her further pain. I do plan to start a new thread on Sunday night (on my Facebook group—“The Other Side”), dealing with the topic of divorce and I think that some of the questions that friends have may be answered there, at least by implication. My own experience has given me a lot more empathy and understanding for people who’ve traveled down that challenging road, particularly from the perspective of someone who is in vocational ministry (and has been for almost 20 years). Thanks also for all the love and good wishes for my upcoming marriage to Chandra Hafford (on January 16)! You can see our pics in the post below this one. It’s going to be a very small ceremony, but we are planning a reception for all of our family and friends on January 25 in Vancouver, WA (details to follow). Chandra, has a story that’s about as unusual as mine: her family came out of Seventh Day Adventism and this is also her second marriage. With the help of a group of spiritually mature counselors, she tried harder than anyone I know to follow Christ and Scripture through her own challenges (as I have endeavored to do as well). We appreciate your prayers for our new combined family of 10 kids (ages 9, 9, 11, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, and 18)! Chandra’s primary spiritual gifts are nurturing (shepherding), administration and faith. I’m so grateful for that!—LOL. All my kids love her to death and we are so excited about Ben and Heidi joining our group too! Again, thanks everybody for your love and prayers and for your consideration of our privacy beyond what I have shared here. All the best! Joseph
