I’ve just posted a photo on Steve Dunn’s page of my Great Aunt with Sir Bobby Robson. It’s not an old photo so it doesn’t belong here. This one does, however. It’s Great Aunt Margaret, aged around 12 months. She’s the one on her mother’s knee. This dates the photograph to around 1893, right at the beginning of commercial photography. I understand that the family were fairly well off in those days, not everyone would be able to afford photographs in those days. She died in 2000, aged 108. She was the oldest person in South Tyneside for a while & still lived alone & did her own shopping until she was over 100.
