J&K to have 50 new ITIs: The 16th Board of Directors (BOD) meeting of Jammu and Kashmir State Board of Technical Education was held under the Chairmanship of Minister of State for Technical Education, Parliamentary Affairs, Law, Justice and Power, Viqar Rasool at Government Polytechnic for Women, Bemina Srinagar. The meeting discussed threadbare various agenda points including sanction to the creation/ change of designations and upgradation of the posts for State Board of Technical Education, consideration of job opportunity in the Government Sector for the various posts in the related discipline, lateral entry system in the various Govt/private polytechnics/ engineer colleges for degree, construction of buildings for State Board of Technical Education, enhancement of remunerations charges of conducting of examination and other related matters, revision of examination fee and other charges. While deliberating on the above issues, the members of the Board put forth some valuable suggestions for further strengthening of the said Institutions at the grass root level so that the Board may become a unique Institution, will be capable to provide best skill development training and nurture the students in such way that they may not only help the State to give a new flip to the industrial and other sectors, but may be fully capable to compete on national and international level. The Board asked the sub Committee to submit its report at the earliest with regard to creation and upgradation of posts of various categories. The meeting also recommended regularization the services of engages on contractual basis to the sub-committee for taking final decision. The meeting gave its nod for 30% enhancement of wages engaged on contractual basis. Later, addressing the meeting, Viqar said with the passage of time the number of ITIs and Polytechnic Institutions have increased and a proposal for further establishment of more 50 ITI, is on cards and therefore the need of the hour is to take necessary steps for strengthening Board, so that it may be able to carry its work load smoothly. He said that he is already in view of that the technical Board should be run on the pattern of Board of School Education added that efforts are being made it more Vibrant and functional. He said that the suggestion to hold Board meetings after every six month is valuable and due consideration should be given on. The meeting was attended among others by Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, TechEdu. and YSS, Shaleen Kabra, Director Technical Education, S. Jaipal Singh, Secretary State Board of Technical Education, N.H Malik, Director Planning, S.S Jammwal, Secretary, State Board of School Education, Renu Goswami, Principal GCET, Jammu, Dr. Sameru Sharma, HOD, E and C, NIT, G.M Rather, Principal Kashmir Government Polytechnic. Srinagar, Shaista Shameem, Director Tawi ARC, Anil Suri, principals of various private polytechnic and representatives of Finance and Industries Institutions.
