Morgan Chase. Federal prosecutors have told the public for years that they lack the clear evidence to bring criminal charges against big banks for mortgage security fraud. But Alayne Fleischmann—a former securities lawyer who worked as a diligence manager for J.P. Morgan Chase—personally witnessed wrongdoing (as reported in a breathtaking account in Rolling Stone Magazine) and even attempted to notify her superiors. For eight years, Fleischmann told her story of fraud to regulators and government lawyers—only to watch the Department of Justice settle with J.P. Morgan Chase out of court with no admission of guilt, and a much lighter penalty that they were able to write off on their taxes. Alayne Fleischmann could face legal, financial, and career repercussions for sharing her story. It’s up to us to make sure it isn’t in vain. Sign the petition by Daily Kos and CREDO to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder: No more excuses. Time for criminal charges against JPMorgan Chase.
