J came home with a letter from school today. They are about to begin instruction about Human Growth and Development for K-3 and need our permission to have them in the class. They provided an outline of the syllabus. Sections include: Cultural Diversity and body images, violence and media influences, body images, anatomy, and body privacy. I went through and highlighted each area and told them specifically why they are not allowed to teach my child such things. I also want a conference with his teacher and principal. If you are going to teach such things, the parents should review any and all material before you begin to teach such a class. Not just a vague outline of what will be covered in these classes. They then go on to say that this curriculum has been reviewed by an advisory board that includes some parents, health experts, and religious leaders. My next set of questions to them is : which parents (b/c I wasnt involved)? Which health experts? Do they support Obamacare? What is their take on vaccines? And which religious leaders? The only religious leader I answer to is my Father in heaven and if he was in on the talks, then I am willing to listen. They already know I dont play so I know J will not be sitting in on any such classes. I also went on to explain in great length how I have lost respect for that school as a whole to even entertain such lewd schooling for such young children. Next year, socialization with peers or not, no more public school.
