JABU Mahlangu has finallysigned on the dotted line for SuperSport United. SunSport can confirm that Mahlangusigned a two-year contract with Matsatsantsa a Pitoriand is expected to be unveiled by the chairman, Khulu Sibiya, in a press conference on Tuesday. This means that one of Mzansi’s most talented but wayward soccer star will make his much-anticipated comeback in the PSL. According to an insider, Mahlangu was supposed to be unveiled this weekend, but the chairman decided to postpone as he didn’t want Mahlangu’s signing to be overshadowed by yesterday’s Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The former Kaizer Chiefs star impressed United coach, Cavin Johnson, who had no doubt about giving him another chance to resurrect his career. Johnson assessed the dribbling wizard’s fitness since October last year and had to make a decision quickly as Bidvest Wits coach, Gavin Hunt, was also trying to snatch him under their nose. Early this year Sunday Sun reported that Gavin Hunt was shocked and impressed by Jabu’s fitness and skills during a friendly match between his club Bidvest Wits and Supersport. A close source to the club told SunSport that Sibiya started negotiations with Mahlangu’s manager on Wednesday after being given a thumbs up by Johnson. Mahlangu, who is also the club’s brand ambassador, signed the contract the following day. The insider told the People’s Paper: “The chairman met with Jabu and his wife to finalise the deal on Thursday. “Jabu will still remain the brand ambassador of the club. “He will juggle both jobs. His contract also affords him an opportunity to enrol for any management course of his choice as he is also a mentor to the youngsters on life skills and finance management.” By: AUBREY MOTHOMBENI
