*JAM OF THE WEEK RANT* Ok....just to rant a little about the state of music and why I started JOTW. I started it as a way for musicians to get inspired to play music at any level through a constructive and some what organized platform on social media. This site has NEVER been about who can play the baddest, highest, most odd meter licks, whos the best over a dilla/jazz track....any of it. It is put together for others to feed off each other to use these videos as a means to shed, try new things, and hopefully at the end of the day get better and meet some new people. The internet is filled with the youngest, baddest, who has the most chops videos pouring out of its ears. I will do all that I can to make sure JOTW doesnt turn into those type of sites. I love to jam out on grooves, I love to play constructive music, I love to be Spontaneous and see where the music will take us. I love to play avant garde music in the right settings. Being able to jam out on a groove and flex/Get you Shine on is great but musically you rarely see those people really getting the gigs and holding them down. Discipline, Having a Foundation, Learning the Vocabulary, Being able to play your instrument well and just being a cool cat instead of an ass can land you in the right gig.....also about who you know as well.....which is a part of being a cool cat as well. I might be overreacting and maybe need to chill but I take music serious since not only is this my dream career but it is also my day job as well. So if I was out of line I apologize but this group would not be where it is at without you all dedication for keeping this place going after #46 weeks with out a meltdown. Thank you all and I truly love this group and all of you........like a 3rd cousin twice removed. (just kidding) Please feel free to comment and keep it clean.
