JAMAICANS URGED TO BE SUPER LOTTO SAVVY Kingston, Jamaica: Friday, September 5, 2013: In these difficult times, it may come as a surprise to learn that a number of local Super Lotto players have thrown away their chance of claiming prizes on winning Super Lotto tickets. According to Sonia Davidson, Vice-President of Group Corporate Communications at Supreme Ventures: “We have noticed a trend where some Super Lotto winners at both the jackpot and low-tier prize levels, have not been validating their winning game tickets. By not checking their tickets and claiming the prizes, they are throwing away funds that could redound to their benefit.” The lottery company advised that this has been happening especially at the lower–tier prize levels of Super Lotto winnings, where some winners are not collecting their prizes. Players can check for the game results during the draw which is broadcast on CVM TV and IRIE FM on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:30pm, check the following day in the newspapers or at any Supreme Ventures outlet after each draw. On a pleasant note, Davidson added: “Over 100 Jamaicans have come close to winning the jackpot since the start of this year. In fact, many missed the jackpot by just one number.” The Super Lotto game is currently played in eight Caribbean countries: the Dominican Republic, Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla, Antigua, St. Maarten, the US Virgin Islands and Jamaica. Jamaican Super Lotto players won a total of over $800 million in 2012 alone. Currently, the Super Lotto Jackpot is $167 million.
