JANUARY 3, 2015 THE JUDACULLA ROCK Jackson County, North Carolina, just outside Sylva...One of the least publicized but most puzzling ancient mysteries of North America can be found in the mountain country of North Carolina. It is a large soapstone boulder that is engraved with hundreds of mysterious markings and illustrations that nobody understands. It is called the Judaculla Rock and has been the subject of speculation for centuries. The Rock was already there by the time the Cherokee moved into the area, That would make it more than 2000 years old at the very least. They believed that the markings were created by a giant named Judaculla, who once ruled the mountains and valleys. Judaculla was a master of the hunt and also was able to control the weather. But what the markings on the rock mean are unknown. The area around the rock was considered sacred and has been the site of many weird phenomena. Students from the nearby Western Carolina University often hung out around the Rock and reported odd noises and even eerie lights there. Rumor has it that the Judaculla Rock was one of three similar stones in the area. One was said to have been destroyed by miners, the other has yet to be found. A flurry of speculation surrounds the language on the Rock. Some have remarked that many of the pictures resembles microscopic creatures. That would mean who ever created the Rock had some kind of access to sophisticated microscopic technology. The location around Judaculla Rock has never been dug up and examined by archaelogists in a major way. Somewhere there may lie a key to the mystery... judacullarock/
