JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL I almost died today; for real! I was - TopicsExpress

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL I almost died today; for real! I was coming back from a gig in Longmont around 4 PM off the 66. As I turned north bound onto the 287 to the number one lane just past Walmart. I couldnt help but notice an oncoming silver sedan (may have been a BMW) heading RIGHT AT ME on the wrong side of the highway, the lane I legally occupied. To avoid him, I turned to the left in a split second as he brushed passed me at high rate of speed. Now, I find myself in the south bound number one lane going against traffic as well. Fortunately, there were very few cars. It seemed that everyone was on the ball except driver of that silver sedan. To avoid hitting any oncoming vehicles, I tried to reenter my original north bound lane yet over compensating by a few yards. My little Subaru Forester started to tip, so I turned away for the tipping motion which saved me once again as I came to a full stop. Everyone in the north bound lanes slowed down ahead of time and waited for me to maneuver back towards my original direction. I glanced back as the BMW turned into the Walmart drive way. I wanted to get this guy but it occurred to me that maybe someone ran him into my lane from the opposite side of the highway. Just to think, prior to this incident, I was waiting for the light so I decide it was a good time to change CD’s (yes, I still use CD’s) while the light was still red. I popped in my “David Beagle” CD, in case you wanted to know which CD was playing during this fiasco. I’ve kind of retrained myself to not do anything while driving excepted breath and which the road. Well, that good habit had saved my life. Let’s be real, a head on collision is not very survivable. Can you imagine if I was distracted, even for a split second; I’d be DEAD. I urge you all to pay attention. NoCo has more vehicles on the road than ever, more variables to deal with, right? I know this sound like a public service announcement but I’d hate to see you in the obituaries. Make sure that your tires, shocks and brakes are in tip top shape. Minutes later, I stopped for the light another motorist pulled up beside me and said, “hey fancy driving, good job buddy.” He was right as the light turned green I drove on and pointed upward, ya “Jesus take the wheel“. I never really paid attention to the words of that song. I get it now! https://youtube/watch?v=lydBPm2KRaU
