JKI 150th Board of Directors meet: 6th pay commission releases JKI employees: SRINAGAR, JUNE 14: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, Saturday stressed the need for prioritizing the Industrial Sector so that the people, especially unemployed educated youth could themselves shift their interests from service sector to Industrial sector for which various new measures have been taken to make the sector (industries) more profitable and accessible to all. The Minister, who is also chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Industries Limited (JKI), was addressing its 150th Board of Directors meeting held here today. The Minister, on the occasion, announced release of 6th pay commission in favour of the employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Industries Limited with effect from June 1st, 2014. Mr. Kichloo said that a comprehensive project to the tone of Rs. 60.91 crore have been prepared for up-gradation and modernization of various projects which included Government Silk Factory, Rajbagh, Government Woollen Mills, Bemina, Government Joinery Mills Pampore and Government Joinery Mills Jammu. He said that the revival plan has been made with high expertise to enable these units worthy of sustaining on viable lines. The Minister said JKI is the most prestigious Public Sector Enterprise of the state which has a huge asset base in the form of built-up infrastructure, machinery and landed properties, adding that the corporation was one of the major employment providers in the state. He, however, enjoined upon all concerned to ensure proper dissemination of schemes at grass root level and simplify procedures to the layman’s access. The action taken report of decisions taken in the previous Board meetings were also reviewed in the meeting. Financial commissioner I&C, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai informed the board that detailed studies have been got conducted by experts to upgrade the prestigious units of JKI and consultants of International Repute have prepared detailed project reports of Government Woolen Mills Bemina, and Government Silk factory Raj bagh.
