[Deadline: July 12, 2013] Post: Site Survey and Design Engineer (One year fixed term contract to be extended depending on project needs) The Business and Employment Centre is presently carrying out a search for several exceptional career opportunities on behalf of one of its clients, an International Telecommunications Technologies Organization. Each position is available in Barbados as well as the Cayman Islands. Site Survey and Design Engineer Responsibilities: - Ensure that Fiber optical specifications are agreed with the customer prior to the start of the project - Understand Fiber optical designs to best suit the local environment - Guarantee minimal design to provide value engineered designs - Review site specific designs as produced by the Design Consultancy and make recommendations to manage cost and simplify construction - Provide hands on training for staff who will be attending Technical Site Surveys (TSS), reviewing drawings and approving designs - Review and approve alternative materials proposed by suppliers and customers - Assist the Design Consultancy to produce non standard solutions as required - Review and approve proposals for towers, monopoles, antenna mounting structures - Close liaison with Managed Services to understand operational requirements and make sure that sites are designed so that they are maintainable - Ensure that site designs are compliant with local Health and Safety requirements Requirements: - A qualified engineer with a minimum Bachelor degree in Structural or Civil or Electrical Engineering - At least 3 years experience in site design in the telecoms industry, gained working for a Design Consultancy, Equipment Vendor or Operator - An excellent understanding Fiber optical network. An in depth understanding of value engineering and the principles of cost effective designs - A flair to produce non standard designs to meet environmentally driven requirements - An appreciation of stealth designs and how they can be used - Experience of ensuring quality through design and designing within Health and Safety guidelines - Good negotiation skills able to influence the outcome of discussions with customers and suppliers - A good communicator, fluent in English and able to clearly convey meaning. - Experience working in multi cultural teams Remuneration offered: To be negotiated directly with their client How to apply: please send your CV and application letter to bec@bestaffplus Subject: Site Survey and Design Engineer and indicate if interested in working in Barbados and/or Cayman Islands.
