JOB POSTING Office Assistant Position Summary The Métis Community Services Society of BC (MCSBC) has a mandate from the Métis citizens to provide integrated, holistic, family centered, wraparound services to all those who need assistance, with special emphasis on Aboriginal populations, specifically Métis populations. We are responsible for the development and implementation of a full complement of child services from preventative to Child Protection, via a unique relationship where co-located MCFD social workers are in our office working closely with the team and management. MCSBC is currently seeking a qualified part time Office Assistant (30 hours per week). The Office Assistant provides a variety of reception, administrative and secretarial assistance for MCSBC. Qualifications & Key Duties • Knowledge of Métis culture and history. • To work with a professional team and liaise with colleagues and other professionals. • Act as receptionist, including telephone, e-mail, photocopying and fax duties. • Respond to queries from telephone and in-person callers. • Carry out secretarial duties including typing, filing of documents and managerial support. • Be responsible for receiving and distributing mail. • Perform data entry; keep and regularly update data bases. • Maintain a booking calendar of meetings and events. • Provide administrative support for project events. • Organize the procurement of office and printing supplies and consumables. • Prepare reports and correspondence in a professional manner. • Maintain effective filing and retrieval systems. • Keep minutes of staff and board meetings as required. • IT skills, particularly Internet, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, mail merge, and databases • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly on the telephone. • Ability to respond appropriately to a wide range of enquiries.
