In Egypt, Save the Children has been working to ensure that children’s rights are respected, protected and promoted since 1982. We carry out both long-term development work and, more recently, emergency humanitarian work. Youth Livelihoods Program The Youth Livelihoods Program will be launched by Save the Children in Helwan, Greater Cairo. The purpose of the project is to economically empower 150 vulnerable and at risk Syrian and Egyptian Youth through a set of tailored trainings, while improving social cohesion amongst Helwan’s youth population. Key activities of the project include: - Labour Market and Skills Gaps assessment - Life skills trainings - Humanitarian Traineeships - Vocational Trainings and on the job placements - Entrepreneurship trainings. ROLE PURPOSE: The Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Volunteer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the youth livelihoods program within the emergency program. S/he will be responsible for mentoring and following up over 20 youth for a period of 2 up to 4 months. In addition, s/he will support the Livelihoods Assistants in community outreach; set up and training of community committees; interviews of youth; data collection and distribution of beneficiaries cards. S/he will be responsible of mainstreaming children/ youth’s safeguarding and promoting youth’s participation; regularly investigating and reporting any risk/cases of abuses, exploitation and/or bad treatment of youth at work. SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Market Assessment Assistant. Staff reporting to this post: None Budget Responsibilities: No KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: • Support industry outreach, interviews of business owners and training of project beneficiaries in the factories. • Conducting the necessary labour market survey according to the market assessment plan and using the survey tools. • With the support of Youth Livelihoods team and in participation with youth beneficiaries, apply monitoring tools to ensure youth receive appropriate support within the apprenticeship program on a regular basis. • Collect data for beneficiaries of apprenticeship programs • Ensure appropriate communication tools are set up to ensure the rapid reporting of any incident. • Ensure Child Safeguarding standards are understood and met by partners in liaison with Livelihoods Assistants • Support organisation of trainings and other events related to the project • Support data collection and MEAL activities • Provide administrative support to FSL team if required Essential Experience working with data collection and data entry. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in challenging environment Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children.
