[JOB] WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST POSITION (RESEARCH ASSOCIATE II SPECIAL for the CENTER for ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT of MILITARY LANDS (CEMML). This position is located at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage. This position will be responsible for managing the large mammal program, particularly bear, moose and wolf ecology and population dynamics on and adjacent to JBER. The Wildlife Biologist is also responsible for managing muzzleloader and archery moose and black bear hunts annually. Additionally, the biologist will have primary responsibility for maintaining and updating the recreational software program used to manage recreational access on JBER. Minimum Qualifications: U.S. Citizen and have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position; BS in wildlife biology or closely related applied science is required; Applicants should be comfortable working both outside and in an office setting. Applicants must be able to perform strenuous fieldwork in inclement weather, over varied and rugged terrain, and in all insect and wildlife conditions. Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team and have excellent verbal and writing skills; Incumbent must demonstrate extensive knowledge of computer software and database management, as well as Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills. Background checks will be done for all final candidates. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position duration is contingent on the availability of funding for JBER conservation efforts.
