** JOEY NEEDS YOUR HELP!! ** Yesterday, we introduced you to Penny. Thank you to all who have donated and shared her post. She is definitely the most medically needy out of all of our dogs, but the reality is that we are inundated with costs for our 36 dogs every single day. As you all know, we are a 501c3 non-profit dog rescue and rely solely on donations to survive. We don’t have unlimited funds, and thus, we need to fundraise every so often in order to keep our promise to the dogs we rescue. Our funds are getting lower and lower as each day passes but our dogs’ needs are ongoing. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Please consider donating and help us help our dogs. Now for our next story – Joey. Joey is a 6.5-year-old, 15-lb Bichon mix who was returned to us after five years due to some unfortunate circumstances. Although we try our best to find each dog their perfect forever home, sometimes circumstances occur that cannot be anticipated. Such is the case with Joey. It is certainly heartbreaking whenever a dog loses his home, but we kindly ask you to refrain from posting negative comments about his former owner. We do not want to pass judgment on someone who was in a difficult situation. We want to focus on finding Joey a loving new home. Hopefully, you can help us! Joey, as you can see, is a total stud muffin who is sweeter than pie. :) A tiny bit shy at first, he is quick to attach once he warms up to you and will require a confident handler who will be the leader of the pack. He’s a smart little chap who is already house-trained and takes direction well: “sit,” “stay,” “go to your crate,” “come here,” “do you want a treat?” and “lets go home” are all a part of his vocabulary! He’d love to be with someone who will play fetch with him and take him on plenty of walks throughout the day. Like Penny, he has some eye issues that we recently discussed with an ophthalmologist. His right eye has a really large cyst that prevents him from being able to shut it completely closed. We will be taking a few biopsies to make sure it’s not cancerous before proceeding with any procedures. If it’s not cancerous, the doctor has recommended that the best long-term solution is to marsupialize the cyst (creating incisions) to allow it to drain out versus completely removing the third eyelid and risking the chance that the cyst will come back. We want to make Joey comfortable, but we need your help. PLEASE DONATE so that we can provide Penny, Joey, and our other dogs the care that they need. And if you’d like to foster or adopt Joey, please visit our website and fill out our online application. Thank you. billfoundation.org
