Concerned Democrats of Conscience (CDC))a pro democracy group, yesterday observed that though President Goodluck Jonathan had at one time said he is not Pharaoh, his recent actions have shown that he is learning to become one. National coordinator of CDC, Ibrahim Modibbo who made this known at a news briefing in Abuja said the President has abused and desecrated his oath of office and should resign within a week or the National Assembly should initiate impeachment proceedings against him “Although Jonathan has told whoever cares to listen, that he is neither a Pharaoh or Nebuchadnezzar, recent events in Port Harcourt seem to suggest his complicity in the crisis. “With all the elements of prosecution against the defenseless governor, we believe that the President has abused the constitution and desecrated his oath of office which suggests he is not performing his duties without fear or favour and ill will against any one.” While vowing that CDC would not relent to fight against any regime tyranny, despotic governance and authoritarian mindset of those vested with democratic power in Nigeria, Modibbo said the group would embark on mass protest and hunger strike if Jonathan fails to resign after a week.
