JONES IS ON FIRE UPDATE: for those of you who hadnt heard, Jones has been at Cornell university in Ithaca New York for the last two weeks, being treated for temporohyoid osteoarthropathy. He is doing about as well as he can be, after surviving the dual sided surgery to hopefully take care of this issue for the rest of his life. In hopes of saving his right eye, they placed a device called a sub-palpebral lavage. It is a small soft plastic disc the size of a small contact lens, which is connected to small soft tubing. The disc sits under his upper eyelid. The tubing is placed through the upper eyelid, braided through the forelock and into his mane. The device allows us to inject liquid eye medication into a port at the end of the tubing (near his withers) and the medication ends up coming through the disc, and onto the cornea. That way we can medicate the eye without touching it. The tarsorraphy they did sutured the eyelids (temporarily) closed, until he regains his blink reflex, and starts producing tears again. Well find out Tuesday if he can come home this week. Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers. Any of you who know this horse personally, know this is probably hardest on him. Being cooped up constantly, and aggravated by humans, isnt exactly his favorite past time haha so we wait, and we day dream about the moment hell be able to do what he loves again!!!
