JOURNAL FOR MY TRIP TO GERMANY/TURKEY 2013 Oct 16 Deb and I packed and readied for the airport at 11am ... Our flight left Kalispell at 1:54 pm. We arrived in Denver on time at 4pm. We had to walk a bit to get to the appropriate terminal because our flight to Frankfurt was leaving at 5:40pm. The flight over the ocean was uneventful and pretty nice. We were fed pretty well...two hot meals. Never had that before! They even served WINE...as I didnt know which one I wanted, I ordered orangejuice. Deb told the flight attendant I couldnt have wine...or I would become the intertainment!! What she meant be that, I dont know... We were 20 minutes early so the pilot had us circle twice about 70 miles out of Frankfurt. Landing was a bit rough, but we made it. The weather was nice. The rest of the day was spent getting a RITA taxi and getting to Marias house (Debs Croatian friend). Oct 17 Today we spent the day just shopping a bit and the two wanted to show me some of the villages around Ramstein. We took Marias dog for a walk in the Rhineland Forest on the AFB....very nice woodland and LOTS of different mushrooms popping out. We even saw the famous red w/white mushroom that is very poisonous. Very pretty room. The roads/streets thru the villages are VERY narrow, barely wide enough for two cars, but everyone is patient with one another and accidents are rare, I guess. Its very busy, but very nice to see the old homes and I did see an old farmhouse with the tractor/farm machinery in the shed right on the street!! One could tell that the home/farm buildings were very old....in the middle of town. Amazing... Tomorrow, we head for Croatia. More news tomorrow. PS: Im pleased....bumped into a dealer for Harley here in Marias hometown. Stole a pen from his pocket for proof! Later...
