JOURNAL OF THE MAGI: ENTRY VII We put on our most exquisite clothing, including the robes dyed golden yellow with expensive saffron. Herod was impressed. He seemed glad to see us, and interested in events outside of his Judean realm. He did not know about the Stella Nova that foretold of the Messiah. However, he had his priests and scholars consult their ancient holy writings. They proclaimed the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem, the home town of their great King David, about 8 miles from the palace. Herod said he was interested in the new King too, and asked us to return and tell him. There was something in his manner that left me concerned. The other Magi felt the same way.
