JOURNALISM AND PAKISTANI JOURNALISTS: Journalism is a method of inquiry and literary style that aims to provide a service to the public by the dissemination and analysis of news and other information. JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY is BASED ON PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH, DISCLOSURE, 7 EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE. In a DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY, however, ACCESS TO FREE INFORMATION plays a CENTRAL ROLE in creating a SYSTEM OF CHECKS AND BALANCE. ACCESS to VERIFIABLE INFORMATION gathered by independent media sources, WHICH ADHERS TO JOURNALISTIC STANDARDS, can also be of service to ordinary citizens, by empowering them with the tools they need in order to participate in the political process. 4.1 Codes of conduct Most codes of conduct for journalists are aspirational and a statement of commitment from journalists to be RESPONSIBLE & ACCOUNTABLE. In this way THEY PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR MEDIA OWNERS & JOURNALISTS FROM CRITICISM & LEGAL ACTION. There are more than 400 codes of one form or another in existence, most of which reflect a consistent set of common values and principles of journalism. Generally, these address accuracy and respect for the truth; impartiality and editorial independence; fair comment; respect for others; and correction of errors. CODES ARE GUARANTORS OF VALUE BASED JOURNALISM& ALLEGIANCE TO CODES IS A BENCH MARK FOR QUALITY. They are also an important way of DEFINING WHO IS & WHO IS NOT JOURNALIST. Today that distinction is important not least because of the many new players in the world of information and the confusion over what rights they have in comparison to traditional journalists. I have copied some statements from the Commisioner of Human Rights WEb site. Now My Question: Do you think that so many BASTARDS claiming to be JOURNALISTS even come near to the standards set by JOURNALISM. If they do not conform to JOURNALISTIC STANDARDS, Do you think they deserve the TREATMENT as JOURNALIST & Not Like CRIMINALS? Tink about It & TAKE THESE BASTRDS HEAD ON.
