JUST WHAT LONDON NEEDS, AN AGEIST TV STATION: At the feeble old age of 68 I managed to retune the telly all by myself this morning to check out LONDON LIVE, the new local TV station from the owner of The Independent, and The Evening Standard. Theyre off to a lively start I thought and decided to find out more and read all about it in last nights Standard. Theyve been banging on about it for months in the i paper so Ive taken an interest. Im appalled to find out its solely targeted at an age group of 16 to 34 years. Excuse me, did I suddenly lose interest in all things relating to London overnight when I reached 35? Now in the past Ive made a valid contribution to the arts and community locally in Deptford and I still do, perhaps even more so. Why cant we have a TV station in the capital for ALL Londoners of ALL ages thats not compromised by potential advertising or lack of?
