JV Football - Halftime Recognition – Remembering (9/11) - 2013 Today is the anniversary of the Sept 11th attacks on America. On this day, 12 years ago over 3000 of our fellow Americans died in what is considered by many the worst terrorist attack in our country’s history. Many of these Americans were going to work, going on vacation, and going on with their daily lives. Many were firefighters, police officers, military personal and port authority workers who perished trying to help and rescue others. They were all every day Americans. We remember those heroes who saved others by helping them out of burning and collapsing buildings in New York City and Washington DC. We remember those who were passengers flying to their destination. Today we remember the victims, the heroes, and the everyday American’s who on that day perished by the acts of terrorists who may have changed our society but did not change our will, our pride, or our resolve as Americans. Tonight we Remember 9/11 but will also recognize one of Lakeland’s finest Eagles … Mr. Brad Roberts. Mr. Roberts is a Military Veteran who served as a Sargent in the United States Army. In just a short time (as Lakeland’s building Foreman) Mr. Robert’s has made an immediate difference with the overall operations, and functionality of the building. His leadership skills and passion in what he does is unmatched. He has an uncanny ability to motivate his staff to do their very best...Thus, making Lakeland a safe and secure school for our students. Mr. Roberts served in several areas of the world during his time in the service but remembers most - his time in Korea, and Belgium. Mr. Roberts is quoted as saying “My time in the service changed my life, the places I went and the things I saw - I will never forget. It taught me about teamwork, leadership and good work ethics. If I were asked today, I would stand and serve my country again”. We stand here this evening with Mr. Roberts grateful for all the fine things he does for our School, but more importantly - we stand here because of our gratitude and sincere appreciation for his service to our country. On behalf of the Lakeland Athletic Department - Mr. Roberts, We thank you for your service to our country – Please join me in a round of applause for Mr. Roberts Ladies and gentlemen, at this time the Lakeland Athletic Department asks that you remain standing and please honor a moment of silence for those whose lives were taken on Sept 11th, 2001.
