Jace is feeling better and cdiff seems to be clearing up. He still has another week on the nastiest antibiotic weve come across. Normally, the first couple times hell spit it out until he realizes we will just redose him, but this time he took it like a champ. 4x/day he takes it himself. Every once in a while well get to see a crazy face as he downs a dose. I dont blame him, its the worst. His tush is also better, so no more pain or irritation. Weve had a busy week celebrating Christmas with both sides of our family. Jace is at the age where he actually understands the concept of opening a gift. Funny how fast we forget those innocent little moments watching the excitement on his face as he rips the paper. Another bit of good news, Jace will get his central line removed tomorrow (12/26)! Another bittersweet moment for us. The central line has been with him since 9/23/2013 and a replacement in 5/2014. Its a part of him and Im not sure he realizes he wasnt born with it. Ha! Since finding out, Ive been counting the days for no more nightly maintenance. That should knock off some time before bed:) What will I do with all the extra counter space if we dont have all his supplies around? Cant wait, but yet the security we have with it is also gone. All the what ifs pop up...what if we need labs or Jace is sick? Crossing my fingers there are no regrets! It just seems too soon, as his cancer-free news has barely sunk in yet. It doesnt feel real that we wont be having one or two weekly appointments in Omaha. Thinking back on Christmas 2013 his diagnosis was so new to us and to be honest we didnt know if Jace would be with us for Christmas 2014. This nasty disease has a mind of its own and will always be the beast we continue to fight. This year we feel more at peace having completed a successful treatment. We cannot wait for the house to wake to see if Santas made a stop. Every morning, Jace hunts for our elf and tells everyone, even though they want to find Tinsel themselves. They get so mad at him and he has no clue! Hes in the spirit singing Christmas songs which usually turn into Frozen songs. We love it! His little voice singing makes us all smile.
