Presidential candidate Saeed Jalili says cynicism is a serious threat which undermines the country’s strengths and weakens national resistance and resolve. During a tour of the northeastern city of Tabriz in East Azarbaijan Province, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council said the enemies have realized that their anti-Iran propaganda campaign is going nowhere. That is why they are now bent on instilling doubt and cynicism in the hearts and minds of the nation, he said. Jalili, who is secretary of Iran Supreme National Security Council, stated that unity and resistance is the best way to fight back. Jalili is competing against seven contestants, including Secretary of the Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei, President of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, former First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi. The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election. Nearly 50.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential poll.
