Jama’at condemns use of force against KU students SRINAGAR: Describing the protest of students against the shooting of a film in Kashmir University campus as “justified,” Jama’at-e-Islami on Monday condemned what it termed as “the use of state force and unjustified arrest of innocent students.” “Jama’at-e-Islami strongly condemns the use of state force and unjustified arrest of innocent students and stress upon the authorities to stop such type of vulgar activities in the university in the future,” a statement issued by the Jama’at spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali said. The statement also said that the shooting of “Bollywood Movies in educational institutions not only vitiates the educational atmosphere but badly affects their moral integrity as well.” “The Universities aren’t meant for shooting such films but they are the holy seats of securing knowledge,” it added. “Furthermore, the Indian film industry has never portrayed Kashmir in its true picture but always presented it against its original form in every respect including social as well as political spheres,” the statement added. “The students of Kashmir University protesting against shooting of such films in the university premises is quit justified and the concerned authorities should have respected these genuine sentiments of the students and cancelled the shooting permission,” the statement said, adding “instead, they called the police and used unbilled force against the students and arrested two of them without any logic and justification.”
