James 2:14-17 (NIV) v14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? v15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and food. v16 If one of you says to him, Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? v17 In the same way, faith by itself is dead. This time of the year local food banks, soup kitchens, and other places that seek to help others are constantly trying to restock their shelves in anticipation for the number of requests for help from those who find themselves in dire needs. From my experience, I have had to go through such times where I only had a few cans of soup, water and other items until I replenish my stock. We as not only Americans, but as Christians, tend to take it for granted that everyone has enough food and clothes to get through the holidays; but this is not the case. The number of people that are reaching out to social services as well as food banks, are increasing and for many, this is the first time they have had to ask for help and it may be difficult for them to ask for it; have compassion on those who are struggling, support them with kind words, encouragement, love and whatever you can do to help them. God bless you! Love in Christ!
