James 3:10-12 “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.” Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.” The words that we chose to use are very important. Words can be a tool for great good. For example our words can be use to talk to our heavenly Father or we can use our words to speak to others and tell them the truth about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We can use our words to motivate and encourage others in their walk with the Lord. However all too often the words we choose to use injure others. It can start with a comment made without thought or when sharing our opinion in a negative way. Our words may sow seeds of doubt or distrust that can hurt someone reputation. It is very important that we choose our words very carefully. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth about your words, and let Him transform any attitude that might be prompting negative or hurtful words that proceed from your mouth. Let our prayer be like the psalmist; Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O’Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”
