James Arthur Parish, 92, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 6, 2014, with his family by his side. A son of Sherman and Lena Parish, he was born on December 27, 1921, in Crowder, Mississippi, where he was raised. A true member of The Greatest Generation, Jim graduated from Phillip (Mississippi) High School and enlisted in the United States Navy prior to World War II. On December 7, 1941, he was stationed aboard the submarine USS Narwhal, and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese Navy that led the US into WWII [CSD-42, Narwhal, CSR-45, Permit, Chopper (Plankowner)]. While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Audrey Keeling. They wed on November 17, 1945, and shared 5 sons and more than 65 years of marriage until her death in 2011. A member of the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, Jim served as an elder for 30 years, and also as treasurer, and a member of the Kum Double Class. He was elected to three consecutive terms as a Weathersfield Township Trustee, and retired from Packard Electric in 1984 after nearly 40 years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, James L. (Judy) of Royal Oak, Michigan, Richard A. (Carol, deceased) of Warren, Bruce of Boca Raton, Fla., Randall (Phyllis) of Warren, and Keith (Tammy) of Niles, 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Buried at Kerrs Cemetery, Mineral Ridge, Trumbell County, OH.
