James Greely Pickle age 81 of Beaverton, AL passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, AL. Born January 29, 1933 in Beaverton, AL, he is the son of the late Lesley Preston and Margaret Lena Weeks Pickle and the husband of Minnie Pearl Taylor. He had lived in Beaverton all of his life where he served as mayor for 16 years, and had retired from Reltoc Manufacturing. He had been a member of the Beaverton Methodist Church for over 65 years and was a member of the Gideons, and the North Lamar Rescue Squad and loved fishing and gardening. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his Wife, Minnie Pearl Pickle, of Beaverton, AL, 3 Sons, Freddie (Donna) Pickle of Sulligent, AL, Ben (Eva) Pickle and Eddie Pickle all of Beaverton, AL, 6 Grandchildren, Brittany Wade-Sawrie, Billy Pickle, Jason Pickle, Coy Pickle, La Shae Rich, and Leslie Flynn, 6 Great Grandchildren, Nathan Rich, Ally Rich, Aubree Flynn, Brody, Flynn, Breanna Sawrie, Dillan Pickle and a host of Step Great Grandchildren, and a Brother, Robert (Pat) Pickle of Beaverton, AL. He was also preceded in death by 2 Sons, James Anthony Pickle and Terry Lee Pickle and a Sister, Anita Faye Pickle Barnes. Services held, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Beaverton Methodist Church with burial in the Beaverton Cemetery. Bro. David Sullivan and Bro. Edward Puckett officiating. Norwood Funeral Homes, Inc. of Sulligent, AL officiating.
