James L. Wells “Pappy,” age 60, of Emporia; an amazing man, son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa and friend, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Jim will be greatly missed. Jim was previously employed at Leiszler Transport Co. and was a proud fireman of 24 years, retired from the Emporia Fire Department. Jim is survived by his mother, Melissa and her husband Walt Johnson; a brother, George; a sister, Kathy Libertus; his wife, Kathy; son, Wesley Wells; daughter, Kristal Rodriguez; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Group. He devoted his life to doing for others. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 11, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Lt. Lynn Lopez of the Salvation Army will be officiating. Interment will be in Fowler-Hunt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Emporia Animal Shelter or ALS Walk for Danny Williams and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
