I dont have his or her permission, and if they want me to remove them, I will. But I am honored to post their thoughts here as well. AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONORABLE AND ETHICAL SERVICE, SIR OR MAAM! As a member of the public service community, I have signed a code of ethics, promising to not only uphold the law, but also to stand for justice and equality. In any incident involving suspicion of wrongdoing on behalf of law enforcement, the public should feel confident that a higher authority will evaluate and assess the circumstances. It is this check on power which makes our society function and ensure due process. Not only has this incident cost the life of another living creature whom was protecting the home in which it lived, but it has also caused great grief for a family within our community. This family now must explain to their young children that an officer of the law killed their beloved pet. I am signing this petition not only on behalf of the life lost and the family grieving, but also for fellow law enforcement officers whom have yet another strike against them. I live and work each day by the Code of Ethics I swore to when I became a law enforcement officer. If cases like this are not properly investigated, then my dedication and service will not be respected by the community I serve. When our citizens see a badge, they expect that they will be treated the same by all of those who wear one. Please have state police investigate this matter so that I can continue to wear that badge proudly and make a positive impact on the people I stand to protect.
