James Lick High School, 57 North White Road, San Jose. 1951. James Lick High School opened its doors in 1950 at the base of the East Foothills of San Jose. The school was named after James Lick, founder of the Lick Observatory, which is 17 miles away off of Mount Hamilton. High school to Jim Plunkett, former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner. He was also the first Latino player to win the Heisman Trophy. Also, Gary Ilman, U.S. Olympic Swim Team, 1964 Two Gold Medals. Remember Bob Wall, actor, from the movie Enter The Dragon with Bruce Lee. He went to James Lick High School.
