The roof over the Captains room, the original master bedroom of the house, now has a hole in it. The floors upstairs are soft to the point of collapse. Water is beginning to seep into the basement as well as into many other soft spots around the building. The aluminum siding has come off the original wood eves along the roof line and they are all now rotted and falling down. The kitchen is a gutted rain Forrest with water dripping down through the rotted roof. I literally grew up in the Maine Maid Inn, as my family owned it from 1972 until 2000. It is hard to see what has happened to such a great building. At this point, politicians on their soap boxes cant save the Inn and historical status cant save the Inn. Im sorry to say the Inn is physically beyond the point of savng and very near the point of collapse. Like · · January 23 at 9:25pm
