James Paul “Jim” Lucas, 78, of Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late John and Julia Babiak Lucas and was the husband of Pamela Ethel Buck Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he sang in the choir and was active with the Knights of Columbus. He was a mechanical engineer and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lucas is survived by a son, Norman Lucas and wife Glenna of Park Hills, MO; two daughters, Karen Lucas and partner Bev Cann of Madison, WI and Anne Quigley of Elmhurst, IL; two step-daughters, Catherine McDonald of Brookfield, MD and Teresa Hunt-Zinc and husband Bruce of Annapolis, MD; a step-son, Samuel Hunt and wife Kelly of New Carrollton, MD; two sisters, Judy Ward of Cleveland, OH and JoAnn Dimond of Strongsville, OH; a brother, Mike Lucas of Deerfield, IL; seven grandchildren, Audra Lucas, Allison Lucas, Jerid Lucas, Jenna Lucas, Michael Lucas, Carl McDonald and Michael Zinc; and four great-grandchildren, Max, Jackson, Jewel and Emma. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lucas. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. At Holy Family Catholic Church with Deacon George Stonikinis, Jr. Officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Lucas family.
